What the free compressor does
It runs the same pipeline as the paid PDF compression API. Every image in the document is resampled to the size it is shown at, not to one blanket setting, and the result is encoded again. No AI is involved: the same file gives the same output every time.
Limits
- One PDF per run, up to 5 MB.
- Five runs per day from the same browser.
- Results are deleted within the hour, or at once when you download them.
Questions
How big a PDF can the free compressor take?
Up to 5 MB per file. For larger PDFs, the paid API accepts files up to 200 MB.
Will my PDF look worse?
The compressor resamples each image to the size it is shown at on the page, and keeps text as text. Check the result at the size you will read it, especially photos.
What if my PDF cannot get any smaller?
You get your original file back, and nothing is charged. A PDF that is already small is not made worse to look smaller.
Need it in a workflow?
The PDF compression API takes a URL or an upload, runs in the background for large files, and reports the charge on every result. Start with 1 USD of credit and no card.
